Are You Getting Enough Good Food?
Dear Everyone,
We all know how important it is to avoid filling up on junk food and ultra processed foods. What we eat and how we eat affects our whole body and well being. What is true for the body is also true for our spiritual well being. Jesus said "It is written man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4) He was quoting Deuteronomy 8:3 when Moses was reminding the people of the lesson God had taught them over the past 40 years that their survival and well being relied not on finding food for themselves but obeying God's word.
We need to eat good food everyday. But are you feeding your spirit on God's written word the Bible everyday? I find that when you get busy and the pressure is on it is very easy for that daily appointment with God's word to slip down the list of things to do and eventually drop off the bottom.
Your mobile phone can be a source of endless junk "food" but it can also be a useful tool to help you connect with God and His word. I strongly recommend you download the "Lectio 365 App". It comes from Pete Greig and the 24/7 prayer movement. Three times a day (morning, midday and evening) you get a reminder to open the app. Each prayer time includes short scripture readings and some prayers. It encourages you to allow the Lord to speak directly to you through His word. It helps you to bring your focus back to the Lord in the middle of all the busy-ness and refresh your spirit.
It's free and available through your phone's App store. If you find reading difficult or you are driving, it has an audio option so you can just listen.
Blessings, Peter

A Prayer for the Future of our Parish: God of all hope, you have inspired your people in times past with visions of a good future and given them energy and resolve to achieve great things for your kingdom; endow us with wisdom at this time of change in our parish, unite us in love, give us your guidance, and help us to follow where you lead. In the name of Jesus Christ, the pioneer of our faith, Amen.
Strengthen Faith Through Confirmation: A public declaration of faith in God and our Lord Jesus Christ can be a significant step in our discipleship and a way of strengthening faith. Recently, a St Paul’s parishioner expressed a desire to be confirmed and the Bishop has agreed to come and lead this special service on Sunday 26 July. If anyone else in the parish would like to be confirmed please contact me/Mark Chamberlain on 0274327474 and we can form a discipleship group and prepare for confirmation together.
