Weekly Notices - 26 October

On November 30th it will be 33 years since I was consecrated, set apart to be a deacon and a priest. Never in all that time have I had the occasion or embarrassment to teach about tithing and free will offerings.

However our vestry has asked me to do just that because the Diocese has had to extend us increasing credit in order to pay for what it costs to run this parish. The outstanding credit is some 20,000.

In a sweet short parallel, the rates that homeowners pay covers "roads, rats and rubbish" services. In other words, because we want a nice city with parks and running water etc etc we know we each ought to pay a portion.

IF we really actually do want help to bring people to Jesus, to know him, to be saved from their sins; then we need all sorts of leaders to do that, whether part-time or full time: lay and ordained leaders must be set aside to get us to do that reaching out and sharing the news about Jesus. (See Galatians 6:6 & 1 Tim 5:17-18)

The alternative options are unthinkable.

Could all who have held a Lay Ministers license in the past please get in contact with me immediately.

Next week will be an opportunity to update your conscience  😊  Please pray hard, listen [with ear muffs on  😊 ] and look seriously at the bank account he has given you to be a good and faithful steward of.

Let each of us come next week with an intention to outdo ourselves in trusting Jesus and showing him our love, because he saved yours and my soul and has been so so good to each of us.

Patrick
