Notes from 6 July Sermon:

Galatians Chapter Six

In Summary    “ LIVE CREATIVELY “  :)

Stoop down, assist the oppressed  ESPECIALLY any fellow persecuted Christians.    Verse 6 contact those from your past who have poured spiritual food into your soul. Verse  9 “IF” underlines that there is no such thing as retirement for Christian.

Gospel St Luke Chapter Ten:

Its preface (end of Chapter 9) was about us NOT LOITERING which is procrastinating.  The reading continues to make that point for us as a parish.   Luke knew what he was talking about, writing for us the inheritors of the faith.

Imagine a crowd of 100 moving around the countryside. Jesus then told 70 of them...GO! to 35 villages…serious stuff, more serious than us?

Our Bishop Peter pleads with us, as Jesus does: “Down on your knees, ask, ask, ask!  More harvest workers are seriously needed here in this diocese; we need example setters, so that we do what a body like us should have been doing.”

In His grip, Patrick

"Contrary to a note in last week's Handy Sheet I (Patrick) am not, not available on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays due to Sabbatical Leave matters.

It's just that it may be more difficult to get hold of me due to Sabbatical Leave matters that I need to be attending to.

However, do feel free to text me or email me and I will get back to you before you know it."

Combined Parish Service: Sunday 27 July at St Saviour’s, Templeton at 4pm.

Today’s Sentence and Prayer

Sentence:  "[God] has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son." (Colossians 1:13)

Prayer of the Day: O God, you shine the light of your truth so that any who stray into error may be able to return to the right path; grant that all who profess the Christian faith may reject whatever is contrary to the name of Christ and eagerly follow the way that leads to you; through Jesus Christ, who is alive with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Readings: Amos 7:7-8 & Luke 10:25-37
