Weekly Notices - 9 November
I was thrilled to hear from T about the buzz at last Sunday's worship across the parish, and too, at the outward looking lively discussions afterwards.
We must all take responsibility for being God’s Church in our districts. There can be no pew warmers (unless physically incapacitated) There are so so many people in our streets and over the back fence who are insulated against God. So nice enjoyable services cannot be our goal.
Daily our goal needs to be giving him our whole life so we can instantly respond when he beckons us about this neighbour or that neighbour, or the trolley boy/checkout person or anyone we come into contact with.
Urged by God the Holy Spirit, we must poke gently at the asbestos that has insulated and stopped them from waking up to think about Jesus. Because in the end it’s ALL about Jesus. Isn’t it?
We can only ooze Jesus if we are in love with him. When we are in love we bubble with love and it spills over. Doesn’t it?
That intimate love was demonstrated to us by that beautiful daughter of God (Luke 7) sensing the love that Jesus offers, publicly came and wept with love, tears of gratefulness that she was lovable; on her knees kissing his feet, an extraordinary display of affection. (loving him with all her heart, all her soul, all her strength as we are all born to do).
Jesus says (Luke 20) who needs marriage when we come into his presence after our death here on earth. He awaits us with so much love (so much love that it is another miracle we don’t dissolve and disappear into him).
Forget fairy stories about when we die and we'll reunite with some friends and some family.
Jesus says our focus will be riveted by being face to face with God.
All ecstasies and Intimacies then will be with the God, Father, Son and The Holy Spirit. Amen! Patrick
