Weekly Notices - 23 November

Next Sunday’s Combined Parish—Healing Service at St Saviour’s, Templeton at 5pm is another invite from Jesus to “Come to me you that are heavy laden” (St Matthews Gospel 11 verse 30) and some of us possibly aren’t even aware we have a load on our heart that needs His healing touch.

I reluctantly used some harsh sounding words last Sunday about shameful stuff in this parish, especially but not only between congregations.  Words like “grudges, negativity, snipping” and also individual things like grumpiness, complaining, prejudice, nay sayers, and luke warmness (Revelation 3:16)

I’m glad I didn’t get run out of town, which I think shows you and me that y’all know it’s the truth.

Its one thing to know the church is for sinners, not the righteous, but it’s another thing to have for you and I not speaking up and calling some of these sins out.

Confession is good, indeed it is very good for the soul, even to save your souls.

James 5:16 clearly says, “Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.” God assures us that while our relationship with him is personal, it's not private.

So, next Sunday please come with open hearts, the kind that God really loves.

If you need a lift, just ask! 😊  And it’s easier to keep your pot luck meal contribution from spilling if you have 2 hands to keep it safe.

Patrick
