Weekly Notices - 1 March 2026
Like David Hastings life, Ray Salisbury was a guy you couldn’t miss.
I’m so glad those two jokers are with Jesus. Haere ra, Haere ra e nga hoa.
From all of us it was precious knowing you Ray!
Last Sunday, Trusella and I were very humbled by your unauthorised combined worship service. Yet Jesus' love was in the air. The second African song had me in tears knowing what we’ll be facing back there next month. I give thanks to our Father for my better half, Trusella being the blackmailer getting us to go there.
The koha and love gifts will be treasured. The unexpected $ extras will go to the young girls in the Liberian safe home who had to be relocated due to a serious fire in which they lost what little they owned.
“Times they are changing” as Bob Dylan sings.
And so we entrust you all to God’s ongoing love as you actually get down and figure out a parish way forward, not for survival but for Jesus’s sake, to obey him and bring your neighbours to know him.
With much love, Arohanui P n T

Today’s Sentence and Prayer
Sentence: Lord be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning; our salvation in time of distress (Isaiah 33:2)
Prayer of the Day: Transfiguring God, before the passion of your beloved Son you revealed his glory on the holy mountain; grant that we who by faith behold the light of his face may be strengthened to bear the cross, and be changed into his likeness from glory to glory; through the same Jesus Christ, who is alive with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Hope Project Easter 2026
Anyone who wants to take part and deliver booklets is welcome to sign up. This might also be something any home or youth groups could consider getting involved in and they could select a few areas to deliver in or deliver to those areas around the Church.
The project provides an opportunity to pray for the homes, as well as walking the streets to deliver Hope Project booklets. People who register early will likely be able to select blocks that best suit them for a delivery close to or around their own homes.
Information about getting involved as a volunteer and how to select those areas to deliver in from an online map are available by going to: https://alltogether.co.nz/christchurch/ the website also includes the volunteer policies (Safety briefing, delivery and donating).
Additional Information about the project, vision, scope, resources (there are short videos for church promotions, posters) and an online copy of the booklet can be found here at: https://alltogether.co.nz/hopeproject/
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the Hope Project office. admin@shininglights.co.nz
