Weekly Notices - 1 February 2026
Normal service times resume: February 1, 2026,

Craft Day
Saturday 31 January 2026, St Columba’s Church Hall, 10am-3pm.
Recently we had the joy of feeling Gods presence as Alice preached at West Melton. She introduced us to the very helpful idea of needing to be ‘Fruit inspectors’, of the world's words and deeds and of our words and deeds.
Last week was the reminder to first examine the log in our eye before we call out any imperfect fruit we see around us. I called out our lack of fruit today, a result over the decades, of congregations (here in our parishes and across all denominations) not fulfilling our calling. All I am doing is fulfilling the priest's vows to prophetically call a spade a spade. The fruit facts are right beside us in our empty pews. It is in small groups that sewn seeds get watered, and become fruit as we ooze Jesus because we love Him (“with all our hearts, with all our minds, with all our strength” as he rightly expects).
I look forward with hope to hearing from 10,000 miles away, that Alpha groups are seeding small home groups: that would be fruit whose pips can seed more fruit and bring such praise and pleasure to our Heavenly Father. Productive paddocks indeed!
I hope and pray and plead that memorising Jesus’s own stories from the Gospel of Mark will enable you to sow His words to those you chat with. eg “Have you heard the one about Jesus angering religious people?”. Mark 13
God's Message to you is to “Quote Him”. God’s Message through Micah is “to walk humbly WITH your God”. Easy as if you have a close relationship with Him, Listening to him and loving Him.
Patrick
Thank you to all who helped with the Templeton School Leavers Dinner.
To those who helped on the day and to those who donated money and food. It was a wonderful success. Thank you Jean.
Today’s Sentence and Prayer

Prayer of the Day: Grant, O God, that we may love you with our whole being, and love all people as you would have us love them; through Jesus Christ, who is alive with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
